Shadow Hearts is one of the most underrated games I’ve ever played. Don’t be fooled by its low scores because Shadow Hearts has a lot more to offer than its given credit for. Shadow Hearts was developed by Sacnoth, a gaming company formed by many former Squaresoft employees. Their first attempt at a game was Koudelka, which didn’t do too well. Their second attempt was Shadow Hearts and it is an excellent game.

The strategy/RPG genre hasn't been making much of a splash lately on the PC. All of the X-Coms and Jagged Alliances have long since faded into the pages of history with nothing to take their place in modern gaming, until Silent Storm made its way to the West.

Star Ocean: The Second Story is the second installment in an obscure series of RPGs made by tri-Ace. SO: TSS is the sequel to one of the biggest RPGs for the SNES, Star Ocean. Unlike the FF series, this game actually picks up and continues the story of the first one.

Remakes are always hard to swallow. First they charge you nearly full price for a game you may already own and usually skimp on new additions. It's unfair to lump all remakes in that category, however, as Star Ocean: First Departure is one of those few remakes that are well worth the full price.
