Remakes are always hard to swallow. First they charge you nearly full price for a game you may already own and usually skimp on new additions. It's unfair to lump all remakes in that category, however, as Star Ocean: First Departure is one of those few remakes that are well worth the full price.

Square-Enix's follow up remake to the excellent First Departure doesn't quite deliver the same knockout package as its predecessor, nevertheless it delivers a memorable experience that no RPGer should miss.
