Instead of animation, choppy black and white footage
of a commuter crowd is used. The low frame rate makes
it look all the more chaotic. Poom Poom is explaining
that the dreams and aspirations of youth are put to
the side as one grows older. Those dreams do not
disapear, they wait in the darkness of one's
mind.

by, idly taking a balloon. Departing, he leaves
behind a phantom of himself. Poom Poom continues his
exposition from the previous scenelet. Saying that
those things that adults have given up are his
friends.

Akane and Toka are walking along chatting when Saki
walks by, a red balloon grasped in her right hand.
When this event is shown in episode 09 it appears
differently. Saki is giddy with excitement, skipping
down the sidewalk. This time though she is much more
sedate. Difference in perception?

a balloon. Poom Poom is waiting for her. Looking at
her, it says only,
How sad... Here.
He offers her a balloon. As Akane takes it a younger
version of herself appears. She watches as Poom Poom
greets its new friend. Other phantom children appear,
Poom Poom explains to them that Akane had given up on
her dream of writing fairy tales. Saying
She purposely put us behind her.
Akane recalls burning all of her stories. Poom Poom
invites Akane's phantom to join it. The phantom
children and Poom Poom run off into Paisley Park.
Akane is left behind. Beginning to weep she
apologizes.
