Akane's stories
The viewer is shown the first page of a child's
picture book. There is no text shown, just a water
color of the protagonist, Poom Poom. He has a red
balloon held in his right hand. Poom Poom is reading
the first few sentences of the story.
I am Poom Poom. I come from heaven as a messenger
of happiness. My job is to pass out balloons of
happiness to everyone. That's why I'm traveling
around the world... There are all kinds of different
countries in the world. So many adventures await me.

Half way through his narration, the page begins to
burn. The page is mostly consumed when one is shown
Akane crouched over a small pyre in her backyard.
Having given up on being a writer of children's
stories she is burning all of her writings. Akane
says only
Well that's life.
