Just after Shizue's session with Dr. Kisugi

Shizue is just leaving her counseling session with
Dr. Kisugi and walks out into the hospital grounds.
She finds Mayumi kneeling in pain, an arm wrapped
around her belly. Concerned for Mayumi's well being
Shizue rushes to her side asking if she is alright.
Shizue is about to go call a doctor when Mayumi
grasps her wrist, requesting that she stop. According
to Mayumi if a doctor is brought he will state that
she should have an abortion. Apparently quite a few
people have been telling her that. She is at the
hospital not for treatment but to discuss her
feelings with Dr. Kisugi, who is her friend. Shizue,
who is confused, asks why Mayumi has not discussed
this with her husband. Shizue is taken aback when
Mayumi relates that she will be a single mother.
Continuing, she tells Shizue that the name of her
child should it be a daughter will be Manaka. Shizue
asks if she is sad, being a single mother. Yes she
is sad as a woman, Mayumi tells Shizue, but as a
mother she plans to live her life to the fullest.
Shizue is startled when Mayumi tells her that Miss.
Wakasa is the same, trying to do her best as a
mother. Mayumi had been eaves dropping in the next
room while Shizue was being counseled by Dr. Kisugi.
Mayumi explains that women have two faces, as a woman,
and then as a mother. Miss. Wakasa is doing
everything that she can so that Shizue has the best
possible life.
