Okay....If nobody knows what Wild Arms is on this site....I'm gonna do something drastic. Like....um....become a pirate....or....poke the president or something...
Honestly, this was on of my favorite games for Playstation and I can't talk to anyone about it! I still have yet to find a person who knows what it is.

Ah sorry, can't help you there. I've only played Wild Arms 3 and seen the first few episodes of the tv series. I wouldn't be too surprised 'though if someone here has played it.

I played the original Playstation game, but I was never able to finish it because my friend wanted it back. It was unique to say the least. I can't say too much about the newer games though, they just never appealed to me.
The one thing I remember about the game was the main guy, he just sorta stood out.

Wow. The one thread that I didn't post in and it's 2 years old! Amazing.
I've heard of Wild Arms. Can't say that it was an amazing game. Nor do I really consider it a "retro" game. There may be people here that disagree, but personally anything with 8 or 16 bit graphics should be considered "retro".

It was pretty darn retro, kinda like the Lunar games. Seems like they only used the CD for music and anime cutscenes and not much else.

Wow. I didn't realize how retro it was until I saw that.

I suppose the definition of "retro" varies from person to person but yeah, I would say that it was. The graphics were sprite-based, not polygonal. That may seem pretty common for a PS1 rpg, but for a while Sony Entertainment America had a real stigma against 2D games, and wouldn't allow publishers to localize them. Many of the early titles didn't see a release outside Japan. Thankfully, Sony relaxed over time or else we would have never seen the likes of Symphony of the Night or the Suikoden games. In my opinion a lot of these sprite-based games have aged better than some of the polygonal ones.
Er, please excuse my rambling. I just picked up Wild Arms 3 for $5 ....new! Can't really go wrong at that price.

Don't you just love that? You can pick up a game for a ridiculously low price now.
Speaking of Wild Arms... It is available for download on the Playstation Store for either the PS3 or PSP.
I played it a bit recently and could not help but laugh at the game. It has aged terribly, but most early 3D console games have.

I played it when it originally came out, never got around to finishing it before I gave it back to my buddy.
I truthfully found Wild Arms to be very unforgiving. I tried to play through the girl's scenario and found battles to be ridiculously hard on her. I think I could be killed in three hits or so, roughly. I never played Wild Arms enough to know if it was a truly difficult game or not, though.
