Since me and Crave were starting a little conversation about G4 I thought I might as well post this as a topic. Tell us what you think of G4.
Like I said in that side conversation in the anime section WHY G4 WHY, WHY DID YOU CHANGE THE HOSTS ON CHEAT!?

I only watch a handful of shows on G4, mainly X-Play and Cinematech, but sometimes Icons and Judgement Day when they have something new. I was surprised at that sudden host change myself; the new host is undoubtedly good looking, but I can't see her as much of a gamer.

I like X-Play, Cinematech, and Judgement Day...those are some of the best shows that I've seen on G4. I actually like watching G-Phoria ever summer, I find it really entertaining for some reason. Yea, I agree about the new host not being much of a gamer and also the comment about her being good looking. But bring Cory Rouse (I think that's how you spell it) back...He was the best.

The Man Show is completely out of place. I can live with Fastlane... but the channel has really lost focus.

I still didn't watch Spike even with The Man Show. The only show that I ever watched was The John Henson Project. That was the best show ever.
The Man Show is completely out of place.
... The Man Show is on G4!?

He was proabably talking about Spike TV
Oh.. Good.
God, The Man Show on G4.. That would be a sign of the Apocalypse. o_o

That would be that sign.

Nope, it's on G4. The old episodes with Adam and Jimmy.

0_o Since when?
Wait a second.. Now that I think about it, I remember some Canadian channels being told to include some shows on their channels that don't really "fit."
The Comedy Network (Canada's own little Comedy Central of sorts) was told to include at least two dramas in it's line up, but I don't know if they've thrown them in yet.
The Man Show could be on G4 for a similar reason, maybe..

If I'm not mistaken, this week.

They've soiled G4 with the Man Show. G4 used to only be about games, then games and other electronics, now they bring The Man Show in? Someone in that company is on crack. There's no other explanation
Well, it really does fit. They seem to treat gamers like we're moronic polygonal flesh lusting animal fratboys, why not give us the show that defines our very being?

I don't like the Man Show too much either, but I'm more annoyed by the fact that they replaced their early morning programming with this show called "Call for Help" or something like that and it's about teaching technologically-challenged people how to interact with devices in today's modern society.
Now I can't even watch Cinematech or Icons in the morning anymore.

I honestly like Call for Help. I don't watch Cinematech very often, but I like Icons also.

Whenever I turn on G4 Cinematech is on. It's either that or Judgement Day or Electric Playground. The only things that are on when I turn it on. Let me check right now what's on. OK...I think it's The Man Show. Well, G4 just lost me for a while...I'm disappointed in them.

True, but they call it videogame TV not TV for gamers. Perhaps that's a bit picky on my part.

I don't think the automotive stuff belongs there either; I enjoy Formula D as much as the next guy, but this has close to nothing to do with gaming.

Yes, and why is The Man Show on there? It does not have a place on G4!!!

I used to watch Call For Help everyday.
I really liked A.O.T.S. before the name was changed (It used to be Screen Savers) and the Current host of Call for help, was the host on there (Leo)
I really think G4 is going more toward the pop culter casual gamer than it's routes as a Channel for gamers, without all this other bull-crap.

I take it you used to watch TechTV when it was still around also then? :)

Yeah it really really sucks.
Thats why I don't watch it anymore.
Actually, I stopped when they stopped Gungrave.

Well, apparently they cancelled two original shows (Filter and G4TV.com) and apparently are trying aquire two Star Trek shows.
Lovely... :|

Wow, they got rid of Filter? And they just updated that show too. :(

Well, not that it matters anymore, but G4 isn't a gaming channel anymore. They're just taking old shows and putting them on the channel.
They just recently added Banzai... which has failed on every channel it's ever been on.
I honestly watched Adult Swim the other night. I haven't watched Cartoon Network (or much TV for that matter) in a LONG time.
Soul_Angel
03-16-2006, 07:39 PM
The only shows that I've watched on G4 lately have been X-Play, Cheat!, and Brainiac. And the reason Banzai has failed on every channel it's been on is because it's a pretty crappy show. I'd like to admit that. When some guy says "Place your bets now" I'd rather be in Vegas instead of being at home watching some show where everything done is pretty stupid and random.

The channel has really been on a downward slope lately, I mean every time I turn to it they're either playing The Man Show or Star Trek.

The only show that's on when I turn to G4 is X-Play. That show is played a lot now.

G4 has gone to craps...
Soul_Angel
04-28-2006, 05:38 PM
Yeah...nicely put. I'm starting to hate G4 now. When it first started it was all about gaming, but then they joined with Tech TV and then the channel started going to hell. Now the channel's changed so much that it's no longer about gaming...it's just a channel for...*dare I say it*...nerds. I mean those stereotyped nerds you see on tv. I know that a lot of those people that are labelled "nerds" now-a-days aren't that bad. In fact...a lot of my friends are labelled "nerds".
Toma-kun

The whole network has an identity crisis; maybe they should change the name of the channel.
Soul_Angel
04-28-2006, 06:31 PM
Yeah...that'd be a good idea. Or maybe they should just change it back to what it used to be.

04-28-2006, 07:14 PM
Tech TV was awesome, infact, alot of the shows that are still on G4 were originally on Tech TV, and those were the only real good shows.
They used to be for nerds, and that's not a bad thing. Now they're trying to go mainstream and it's just screwing them over.

They've already claimed they've changed formats. It wouldn't make much sense at this point to change the channel name because of how it has become easily identifiable.

I wonder what made them change everything around? Low ratings? New management?
ViralArtist
04-29-2006, 10:57 AM
They wanted to be mainstream.
even though TechTV had very good ratings,
and alot of people stopped watching when they just changed the name to "G4" I did for a while, because I loved TechTV.
Hopefully they will do E3 06 live, like the did 05, that was the coolest thing they've ever done.

No, Vulcan Ventures sold the channel and the existing properties to Comcast who merged the former Tech TV with the already existing channel of G4.
Unless I misunderstood what you said.
Soul_Angel
04-29-2006, 06:18 PM
Yeah...and the actual name for about a year or so actually was G4TechTV to show that G4 had fused with TechTV.
