Any of you guys (or girls) ever been stereotyped? I've been called Chinese more times than I can count and I've had a few people say "Aren't Asians supposed to be good in math?" and the usual "You Chinese people can't drive".

I've been stereotyped as a selfish fool that dosent give a crap about anything, when I am totally the opposite :(

I'm white, I have glasses, and I'm good with computers... I'm very often stereotyped for knowning a lot about comptuers.

...well they're right, but that's beside the point.

I've been called a goth more times than I care to count.

I don't recall ever being stereotyped.

I'm not sure why, but people stereotype me as a retarded gay guy. It happens to me all the time. Here's a fact for all the people who have stereotyped me I AM NOT RETARDED OR GAY! It just makes me so freaking mad. And Crave, you're always being called a goth, because you pretty much are a goth.

:? I think that just proved the whole point of this thread...

I've beed called a geek, nerd, or loser more times than I can count but at the same time I don't do anything to change that negative image. I quite frankly, don't really care.
What's funny, though, is that outer appearances are often decieving. I'm sure there are plenty of kids that don't look have as nerdy as I do but know more about programming than I ever will. I'm pretty obessed with macrabre things but I've never been called a goth because I don't dress like one.

Well I can't say I didn't deserve that one. While I complain about stereotypes, my icon depicts a character who fits into the "sterotypical nerd" niche perfectly...
However, I'm the one getting the last laugh here, as refering to me as "he" is inaccurate to say the least.

I haven't been, thankfully.

Aside from some people thinking that I might be "good in a fight" because I'm a big guy. :\

Truth is, I'm a puss!!

Ha I love that stereotype; any time you're bigger or taller than the opposing person they automatically think you'll win.

I'm always the one who is being stereotyped and picked on in school. It's just because they know I can't physically do anything back to them. I'm just way too weak, but whenever some little freshman starts pushing me around I'll tell them to back off before I beat their face in.

LoL, Everyone thinks I'm really weak.

Untill they finally learn.

ermm,. lets see. I got stereotyped as a genious yesterday.... by 3 doctors :? ...

Soul_Angel
10-21-2005, 08:51 PM
If it's by 3 doctors than it's pretty likely that you are. I've been stereotyped by many people, but it went over the line when people started calling me a retard. I am not retarded. Now I don't let it bother me so I just give in and say that I'm the retard. Sooner or later it's going to catch up to me and I'll regret doing that.

That reminds me, I was stereotyped as a FOB for the longest time because every time I filled out a school form I put that I spoke a language other than English. Aparrently, it's considered a disadvantage. :(

I never put a second language on any form I fill out nowadays.

ViralArtist

Pardon my n00b-ness on the matter, but what is FOB??

Toma-kun

Fresh off the boat; common stereotype for Asians (and possibly some Europeans) who still retain their accents, behaviors or appearances from their native countries. Comes from a time in American history where immigration was done through ship travel.

Ooohhh yea *n00b* I gotcha,, and yea I study history alot so I know what your talking about now.

I don't know anything about history. In fact last year I didn't learn a thing out of history...I didn't listen at all.
